Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is originally a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa. The English version of the manga was localized by Viz Media in North America. The world of the Fullmetal Alchemist is styled and based in a European Industrial Revolution. It is set in a fictional universe in which alchemy is the one the most scientific techniques, the story follows the brother Edward and Alphonse Elric who are searching for a Philosopher's Stone to help restore their bodies after a disastrous failed attempt to bring their mother back to life by alchemy.

In two TV Asahi, the anime was voted #1 most popular anime of all time in Japan.
